Potable Water
Cryptosporidium
Recent independent tests carried out in the UK have proven that the patented ArtAqua VVF Technology can remove over 99% of cryptosporidium oocysts from fresh water without the use of chemical additives.
Cryptosporidium is a protozoan pathogen which can cause gastro intestinal illness in humans and animals. In its oocyst phase the parasite is protected by an outer shell that allows it to survive outside the host for long periods of time and makes it very resistant to chlorine-based disinfection. The cysts are round in shape and usually average 3.5 – 4.0μm in diameter.
Ingestion of these cysts causes cryptosporidiosis. Symptoms usually include; dehydration, nausea, fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, weight loss and stomach cramp or pain. Immunocompromised people may develop serious, chronic and sometimes fatal illnesses due to infection. There is no reliable treatment for cryptosporidium infection.
Cryptosporidium oocysts are frequent contaminants of water, with contributions from human and non-human hosts such as livestock, agricultural practices, infected feral and transport hosts. Several community-wide outbreaks of cryptosporidiosis have been linked to drinking water or recreational water contaminated with cryptosporidium.
The ArtAqua VVF Technology can be used on portable water applications to help prevent water that has been contaminated with Cryptosporidium reaching our taps. Due to its ease of application and connection into an existing system, it is ideal in emergency situations where an outbreak has been identified and where immediate removal of the protozoan is required.
Manganese
The patented ArtAqua VVF technology has a proven record of removing manganese from potable water to levels of well below 50 ug/ltr. In doing so the technology will also prevent the build up of manganese film on the sleeves and bulbs of UV applications which can render them incapable of their purpose.
In recent uses it was noted that following the installation of the VVF technology there was no further requirement for weekly hand cleaning of the sleeves or bulbs of the UV application.
The ArtAqua VVF P series are a new range of polyester reinforced GRP filters.
The same internal Variable Velocity Filtration (VVF) technology is installed giving the new range of filters the same performance that is achieved with the use of the stainless steel units. The VVF P series range are ideal for internal use or where there is no exposure to the harsh elements. For installations exposed to the elements our 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel high resistance units are recommended.
The VVF P Series of unit range from the VVF 450p Ø up to the VVF 3000. The Filters are available with pressure ratings of 2.5 bar, 5 bar and 7 bar, up to and including the 900p Ø unit. The large unit has a rating of 2.5 bar, 4 bar and 6 bar.
All models are variable velocity units and require a smaller foot print than any other conventional filters.
- Media Range * 0.1- 0.2mm * 0.2-0.5 mm *0.5 -1.0mm The filters are suitable for use with a wide range of filter media, ie. Sand & AFM Activated media made from Skov.
The Backwash requires less Backwash Water consumption (100% Back wash performance without air scour) Removes 99.2% of Cryptosporidium (Proven by Independent Testing).
